Origins and Evolution

Founded in Cologne in 1989 before relocating to Berlin in 1997, Esther Schipper gallery has maintained collaborations with groundbreaking artists like Angela Bulloch and Pierre Huyghe for over three decades. The 2015 integration of Johnen Galerie significantly expanded its artistic scope.

Designed in collaboration with Annabelle Selldorf, the converted print shop features dual exhibition spaces and a bookstore. The minimalist white cube configuration enables simultaneous shows while maintaining architectural flexibility for site-specific installations.
