Fly over Marrakech in a hot air balloon
For this activity, you'll need to wake up at dawn to discover Marrakech in a new light and its most beautiful colors. The flight occurs at sunrise, lasts about an hour, and you are then invited to breakfast in a Berber-style tent.
The experience is magical, though a bit pricey, as it costs around 2400 dirhams per person. It is possible to book with several providers, including Ciel d’Afrique, which is probably the most well-known.
Paraglide over the Atlas Mountains
If you're after a bigger thrill, paragliding should fit the bill. You'll need to travel a bit from the city to the Kik Plateau to soar over the Atlas Mountains. The flight lasts about 20 minutes but is no less intense. If you don't have your own transport, it's possible to book a shuttle that will pick you up and take you back to Marrakech.
The basic 'air baptism' costs around 700 dirhams. It's best to book the day before for the next day, and re-confirm your appointment on the day as flights may be cancelled depending on the weather conditions.
Spend a day at the rope courses at Terres d’Amanar
Staying airborne but a bit closer to the ground, you can try zip lining at Terres d’Amanar, near Tahanaout. A hotel complex and nature reserve, Terres d'Amanar offers a variety of activities (climbing, archery, horse riding, mountain biking...). The zip lining provides a bit of adventure and has the advantage of being suitable for everyone, kids and adults alike. You can choose different courses, depending on the age and difficulty level.
Prices range between 100 and 300 dirhams per person. Plus, after your exertion, you can enjoy the pool to relax before heading back.
Drive a quad bike in the Agafay Desert
Quad biking is a classic activity for tourists in Marrakech, especially popular in the Palmeraie. But, you can also venture into the Agafay Desert. Lost in the Agafay dunes, you'll have a unique, thrilling experience amidst a stunning landscape. Whether alone or in a group, you can follow each other with a quad per person or share one between two. A guide will accompany you throughout your 2-hour journey.
Note, if you're spending a day or a night in a camp (The White Camel, Terre des étoiles, Agafay desert luxury camps...), you can book directly with the establishment for this activity.
Water ski at Waky
Feeling the heat and looking for a cooling activity? Waky, on the route to Ourika, has you covered. With its artificial lake, Waky offers thrilling water activities like wakeboarding, akin to snowboarding on water, starting at 300 dirhams. You don't need to be a water sports expert to enjoy it, as everything will be well explained, and if you don't get it right away, you'll at least have a good laugh and cool off. You can also enjoy the bar, the music, and watch the pros (or not-so-pros) from a distance. Kids can join in too.
