Medersa Ben Youssef
We're starting with one of the emblematic monuments of the medina, the Medersa Ben Youssef. This ancient Quranic school, built in 1570, is considered one of the most magnificent in the Arab world. In the past, hundreds of students walked its central courtyard and 132 rooms. Newly renovated, it has regained all its splendor.

The Palais Badii
The "Palace of the incomparable" is one of the remnants of the Saadian era. While you're used to seeing its grandeur on TV during Marrakech Du Rire, it's still stunning to discover its majestic courtyard full of olive and orange trees in the middle of gardens. You can easily imagine the grand palace of the time with its riches and lavish evenings.

The Mouassine Museum
Housed in a 17th and 18th-century building in the heart of the medina, the Mouassine Museum is worth a visit both for its art exhibitions that always highlight Morocco and its wealth, and for the beauty of the place. Its 'douiria' and colorful symphony are breathtaking.

The Menara garden and its pavilion
If you're looking for a strolling spot filled with history, this will delight you. Away from the city hustle, the garden mostly consists of olive trees and covers several hectares. You can walk freely, admire the pool, its fish, and especially its pavilion. Built by the Almohads in the 12th century, the pavilion’s pyramidal roof adorned with green tiles adds charm to the place. You can just enjoy the breathtaking view between the Menara reflecting on the water and the snow-covered Atlas mountains in the background or visit the pavilion.

The Koutoubia
Located a short walk from the medina, this architectural masterpiece towers over the city with its minaret reaching 77 meters. This mosque is a historical monument reflecting the artistry of the Almoravids and Almohads, similar to the Hassan Tower and the Giralda mosque in Seville. While non-Muslims cannot enter, it’s worth seeing from the ground to admire the different faces of its minaret.

Dinner at Jemaa el Fna square
After so many visits and discoveries, a break is well-deserved. In the evening, head to Jemaa el Fna square to enjoy a meal from street vendors. Snail soup, tagine, or grilled dishes are offered at very reasonable prices. A typical Marrakesh meal with the added lively spectacle of the square.

The souks
While it can be tempting to spend money on souvenirs in the souks, just walking around and chatting with the artisans is a free activity!
