Orange juice carts

Orange juice carts

Marrakech is well known for its iconic Jemaa el Fna square and all its folklore. In this vast space where shade is scarce and the sun unavoidable, the orange juice carts offer an endless source of refreshment and vitamins.

With nearly fifty stalls sharing the orange juice market in the square, no passerby can resist the constant call of the citrus pressers. With prices ranging from 3 to 4 dirhams depending on the season, the cost of a glass of juice is close to that of a small bottle of mineral water, so why hold back?

Before arriving at this delicious beverage, the oranges are picked in the Agadir region, only to end up in the wholesale market of Marrakech, where they are bought by all the citrus resellers.

To understand how these small businesses operate, M!M conducted an investigation along with Simo, the operator of cart No. 1.
