On the third anniversary of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, designed by Pierre Bergé himself, the Majorelle Garden Foundation has announced that the Berber Museum will henceforth be known as the Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts.
The most famous French fashion duo were passionate about the Berber arts and its numerous African, Mediterranean, Eastern, European, and international influences since their discovery of Morocco in the 1960s.
In 2011, Pierre Bergé founded the Berber Museum to pay tribute to this heritage shared by all Moroccans, leaving his collection of over 600 items including textiles, rugs, ornaments, pottery, jewelry...
In 2016, HM King Mohammed VI honored him with the Order of Ouissam Alaouite for his services to the Kingdom of Morocco. It's thus quite fitting that the Berber Museum changes its name today in his honor.
