Marrakech, as you've never seen it before
Spotted repeatedly in the streets of Marrakech, a conspicuously unusual sidecar piqued our curiosity more and more. After a bit of research, we discovered Insiders, an offbeat way to explore the city using an uncommon mode of transport. Without a second thought, we booked our half-day adventure without choosing a specific program or destination, keeping it all a mystery. On the big day, Felix, our insider, picked us up, and the adventure began! Once introductions were made, a bond of camaraderie was quickly established, far from the typical tourist guide interaction, Felix naturally became the friend who guides you through the city for the duration of the ride.
From the motorbike to the city map, the vintage vibe is omnipresent to our delight! Another great feature, the choice of route is entirely customized based on our interests or even our mood of the day. Without further delay, we hit the road, heading to Bab el Khemis. Kind-hearted and full of great advice, Felix guided us through the labyrinths of this "Aladdin's Cave" where one could find claw-foot bathtubs, antique furniture, and other unusual items.
After exploring our future hunting ground for treasures, we put our helmets back on and headed to the medina! Roaring through the narrow alleyways of the old city, the sidecar definitely did not go unnoticed among the locals and shopkeepers, who greeted us at every turn. After this warm escapade, we left the hustle and bustle of the medina for the peace and tranquility of the Palmeraie. Felix, our travel companion, introduced us to the impressive khettaras, ancient underground galleries built to provide the city with water. With palm trees stretching as far as the eye could see, camels for company, and only the sound of birds in the background, the ride could not have ended better.
No doubt, Insiders offers a unique experience, an unusual way to discover the city in the company of an expatriate insider who immerses you in his own Marrakech, far from the usual tourist excursions.
